The Landcruiser rumbles across the dusty and bumpy roads.

You’re in utter awe of the beauty surrounding you; there’s something to see everywhere you look.

You’re so immersed in the wilderness that you feel at peace with yourself and those around you.

Your stressful and hectic life back home is miles away; you savour every moment in the here and now. You fall in love with the serenity of it all.

And when the evening sun casts its long shadows on the ground, you’re enjoying a traditional G&T or a refreshing Tusker while you soak in the sights and sounds of the approaching night.

You laugh with new friends, share your magical moments and get lost in the dancing flames of the campfire! You glance up at the starlit night sky, stretching to infinity and have the most magnificent feeling that your life will never quite be the same again…

Ahhh…the delights of an African safari!

Are you excited to find out where you'll be staying?

Welcome to Sandai Farm – an oasis of tranquillity in the remote Laikipia Region.

You’ll be amazed by this intimate and picturesque home-away-from-home nestled among farmland, scrub vegetation and native flora attracting different bird species. It comes with an unwavering view of the snowcapped peaks of Mt. Kenya on the distant horizon. It truly is the perfect setting to immerse yourself and be mesmerised by the sounds of nature and the soothing effect of the African bush. You’ll feel relaxed in no time!

The welcoming and laid-back atmosphere will embrace you like a friendly hug when you step onto the farm. Relax as you plunge into comfy plush cushions scattered on rustic wooden chairs and sofas dotted across the verandah of the main house and the cottages. Put your feet up and reflect on your life as you absorb your surroundings or mingle for a chat with your fellow retreaters and other worldwide travellers. On our retreat, you enter as strangers but leave as friends, bound by your life-altering stay at Sandai Farm.

The main building — your host Petra’s family home — is the farm’s heart. Here you’ll enjoy homemade meals at dinner time, relax in the cosy lounge next to an open wood-burning fireplace (to stay toasty warm in case the evening gets a bit chilly) or have a drink at the well-stocked bar.

All the buildings on the farm are traditionally crafted from mud bricks, while the décor is inspired by the colours of the African Savannah and embraces local artefacts. Petra lovingly decorated each space with her own unique flair and local paintings, giving a rustic but comfortable feel exclusive to the farm.

Did you say tranquillity? I need it.

Meals Made with Love

Be prepared for your mouth to water in anticipation of each and every meal. Dinners are enjoyed family-style at a long table in the comfortable dining room. You’ll adore the homey atmosphere combined with the chance to share stories of travel adventures with guests from all over the world. Breakfasts and lunches are usually taken outside on the shady veranda.
On safari days, you’ll enjoy a picnic basket filled to the rim with various delicacies to keep you energised for an adventurous outing. There’s always room for dessert, isn’t there? Indulge your sweet tooth with the farm’s famous banana bread and other yummy sweets.

All meals are cooked with fresh ingredients from the farm’s garden or the local market. You’ll taste the skill and love poured into each bite. Petra’s local team knows how to cook for international guests and tweak meals to western taste buds using luscious African flavours. Enjoy a light and hearty chickpea curry with a soft layered Chapati – a traditional round flatbread in East Africa. Or a typical Nyama Choma, slowly grilled meat over an open fire or charcoal served with Kachumbari, a delicious salad made from thin slices of fresh ripe tomatoes, onions, green/red pepper, lemon juice, and coriander. Not to forget Pilau, a fragrant, tasty one-pot rice dish flavoured with a masala spice mix made from cumin, cinnamon, black peppercorn seeds, and cardamom pods.

Can’t eat this or that? Have food allergies or follow a vegan, vegetarian, gluten or dairy-free diet? No problem! We’re happy to accommodate your food preferences, and everything is prepared and handled to international hygienic standards.

NINE REASONS FOR NOT MISSING THIS RETREAT

OMG! Yes, I’m so ready for some thrill in my life!

What you're going to walk away with...

So, what can you expect after you spend an incredible time in the African bush and enjoy yourself on unforgettable adventures?

A deep and lasting change is guaranteed.

By the end of our journey together, you will...

  • Have learned simple forest bathing techniques that will energise and rejuvenate you in stressful situations.

  • Be more self-aware and able to let go of negative thoughts and release pent-up feelings through journaling and entering into dialogue with your internal team. The result? You gain calmness and peace and learn to deal with your negative inner dialogue!

  • Have received unique answers and guidance from your environment that help you formulate the next steps on your life journey while considering your innermost desires and dreams.

  • Bond with other individuals on a similar path and stay connected even after the retreat. You’ll no longer feel alone.

  • Release old beliefs and thought patterns, and go home with a new mindset, feeling optimistic and excited about your future.

  • Understand the power of just being, without external pressures or intentions, so you can fully embrace your unique you.

  • Experience a profound shift in perspective so you can appreciate the life you have.

  • Leave with solid self-esteem as you were able to be yourself and share your fears, worries, and dreams in a judgmental-free safe zone and during inspiring campfire talks.

  • Know how to decode nature’s messages, so you can tap into your inner wisdom whenever you seek answers to all life’s big questions.

Would THAT be worth coming to Kenya for?

Yes, without a doubt!

Here’s the thing: Even BEFORE you step foot on the plane, you’ll start to make influential connections and lifelong friendships during two preparational group Zoom calls!

We all get to know each other and agree on the dos and don’ts for our retreat to help us all get the most out of this incredible experience. You also get some tips and tricks that allow you to leave well prepared for the trip of a lifetime.

During our retreat, we’ll bring the African spirit of “Ubuntu” to life. This means we’re humane and ensure that human dignity is always at the core of our actions, thoughts, and deeds when interacting with others. We are in this together. Together we will create a nurturing environment to share our fears, worries, dreams and hopes. We will laugh together. And hold space for each other if feelings overwhelm us. We will heal together and look forward to an even brighter, happier future.

Are you ready to ubuntu?

Yup, I want to be part of this!

This journey is TOTALLY for you if...

  • You’re ready to open up and share your feelings and thoughts with other like-minded individuals on a similar path.

  • You finally want to kick your fears in the butt and take over the steering wheel of your life!

  • You’re craving adventure that lifts your mood and spirit and injects some zest into your life.

  • You’re ready to embrace your unique you and create your vision for a fulfilling and meaningful life.

  • You want to live life with positivity and joy!

This journey is NOT for you if...

  • You don’t appreciate a rustic and down-to-earth but amazingly life-changing experience leaving minimal footprints. Sandai is powered through a photovoltaic system, so things might be different than what you’re used to at home.

  • You aren’t willing to laugh, cry, or hug and get a little dusty and dirty.

  • You’re not an animal lover; there are dogs and cats around the farm and within the main house and other little wonders of nature, as is to be expected in a bush environment!

  • You’re not open to new experiences with a touch of adventure, personal growth and significant breakthroughs.

  • You’re still clinging to your “old” you, blaming outside circumstances for your unhappiness and being negative or defensive.

I’m ready to retreat to Kenya.

Alexandra Katzer

Safari Lover | Nature Coach | Travel Concierge

Hi, I’m Alexandra, your retreat leader.

Until 2008, I had a high-paying career in corporate communications, but I still wasn’t happy. In fact, I always felt like the odd one out. I was constantly questioning myself because all of my friends seemed to have their “poop together”. They were in relationships, getting married, purchasing their first property, starting a family, and having a career that seemingly made them happy.

Then on a 3-month dance and drum sabbatical in West Africa in 2009, my life turned upside-down. The wonder and adventure I experienced there made me trade my lofty career for a volunteering position in Southern Africa. Then I became a travel consultant in Nairobi, and finally, I set up my own travel and nature coaching company, combining all my passions for travelling, Africa and nature into a purposeful life that makes me feel fulfilled and happy.

The golden thread through my journey?

I embraced transformation through personal growth with and in nature. I moved away from the hustle and bustle of my life to this magical continent. Africa touched all my senses. I felt alive, and it helped me change my perspective. Most of all, I now feel grounded and deeply connected to myself. In hindsight, Mama Africa helped me figure out who I’m and what I’m passionate about when I felt utterly lost in life.

My vision is to create a safe and nurturing environment for other “lost peeps”. I want you to feel understood and heard.

But most of all, I want you to experience this magic too! All the answers you seek are already within you. You just need to learn the skills to tap into your inner wisdom so you can move forward in life with clarity, confidence and ease.

I am no snowflake, and you, too, can live a meaningful life true to yourself!

The only question you need to ask yourself is:

Are you ready?

Hell yes! I’m so ready.

Let’s hear from others…

"I felt very well supported by Alexandra. She asks very good questions and takes up things again that I mentioned passing by. She's very attentive and sensitive with a friendly, easy-going and open manner. After the coaching sessions, I always felt free, inspired, strengthened, energetically charged, happy and in a good mood with a smile on my face, and that says it all, doesn't it?"
Sarah
"The combination of coaching in nature and Alexandra's empathetic yet carefree personality has brought me many insights, allowing me to make great progress in my personal issues."
Cindy K.
