- The balance is due to be paid 31 days before the start of the retreat by the 24th of May 2023. All payments are processed via Stripe.
If you choose the Punda Milia Double Room and we cannot match you with a roommate, this room will be classified as a single occupancy room and will attract a surcharge of Euro 150.
Important Legal Information
This retreat is carried out with the help of my tour operator business Wanderlust Africa and is offered as a package tour within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2015/2302.
Therefore, you benefit from all EU rights that apply to package travel. In addition, I have the protection required by law to refund your payments in the event of my insolvency.
With placing your deposit, you accept the Terms & Conditions and are aware of payment terms and cancellation policies.
You’ve also received the information sheet “Informing the traveller of a package tour according to § 651a of the German Civil Code and EU Directive 2015/2302“.
Lodging options
Sandai offers different rooming options for your stay. From a single or double room in a large cottage to guestrooms offering more privacy — all rooms are as unique and special as we are. Due to these conditions, and each room being unique in design, lay out, and view there is specific pricing for each room.

Option A: Punda Milia
The large cottage, Punda Milia, is a stand-alone self-catering cottage away from the main farmhouse. It’s a short walk across the farm that you can safely do at night. Punda Milia has 24 hours electricity due to solar panels.
Punda Milia offers four rooms and will host five people. It has a large open-plan living space with a fantastic open fireplace and a beautiful verandah from which you can watch the sunrise over Mt. Kenya. This cottage will also be one of our places for group sharing, talking and just enjoying each other’s company.

Please note: There’s a tiny room on the ground floor with a bunk bed next to a small bathroom; this is where I’ll be staying.
Punda Milia: Double Room
This room is on the ground floor next to the open plan living space. It offers double occupancy for female participants only.
It has a double bed, an ensuite bathroom with a shower and bathtub, and a desk and chair to reflect on your thoughts. The room overlooks the verandah accessed by all participants.
You’ll share the room with another retreater or bring your best friend along!

Punda Milia: Single Room 1
This room is upstairs with a double bed. It offers views of the Aberdares Mountain Range and the farm.
It has a desk and chair to reflect on your thoughts. It doesn’t have a balcony, but you still can hear the beautiful chorus of melodic bird songs in the morning.
You’ll share the bathroom (shower only) with another retreater across the hallway.

Punda Milia: Single Room 2
This room is also upstairs and comes with a double bed. It has a desk and chair to reflect on your thoughts.
It has its own private balcony offering an amazing view onto Mt. Kenya. The perfect spot to watch the rising sun in the morning and listen to the bird songs.
You’ll share the bathroom (shower only) with another retreater across the hallway.

Option B: Guest Rooms
For more privacy, you can stay in one of the four guest rooms reserved for single occupancy. These rooms are located closer to the main farmhouse.
All guest rooms have a large double bed (and single bed), desk space and an ensuite bathroom (either shower only or bathtub with integrated shower). Each guest room has its own verandah overlooking the garden.

Flights
You must arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi or at the Fairview Hotel on the 24th of June 2023 to participate in this retreat. Group transportation will be provided for you from the airport to Fairview hotel at your time of arrival.
Departures are after 5 pm on the 30th of June 2023.
Please, only book your flights until the retreat is confirmed. If you require assistance booking your international flights, get in touch, and I will help you out.

Cancellation Policy
- Any cancellation made 60 or more days before the start date of the retreat (24th June 2023) will result in a loss of 50% of the trip price.
- Any cancellations made 31-59 days before the start date of the retreat (24th June 2023) will result in a loss of 75% of the trip price.
- Any cancellations made 30 days or less before the start date of the retreat (24th June 2023) or no-shows will result in a loss of 100% of the trip price.
I reserve the right to cancel the retreat if it is not meeting the minimum of 5 participants. You will be notified up to four weeks before the scheduled start time of the retreat. You will receive a FULL REFUND of your paid deposit. I also reserve the right to cancel the retreat due to the trip leader’s illness or unforeseen circumstances beyond my control. In such situations, you will be notified up to 48 hours before the scheduled start time of the retreat. If the retreat is cancelled, registered attendees will get a FULL REFUND of the amount paid.
I reserve the right to determine if you are not a good fit for this trip after we had our chemistry check. If I do so, your deposit will be refunded in full).
It is strongly recommended to purchase comprehensive travel cancellation insurance and health insurance, including repatriation in case of accident, illness or death. Please ensure to protect yourself in case your flight is cancelled due to inclement weather or should an emergency occur, making you unable to travel. Credits will not be issued due to incoming flight delays and/or cancellations.
Should the exchange rate vary, the price is subject to change. You can cancel free of charge if the price increase is more than 10%. Any increases in park fees will be passed on to retreat participants.
COVID-19 Policy
In the event that Covid-19 protocols interfere (for example destination is under lockdown), the retreat will be rescheduled for a later date when travel is possible again. If this occurs, you’ll have the option to transfer all of your funds towards the future retreat dates or receive a full refund.
No refund is given if the participant contracted the virus and can’t attend the retreat, in which case, travel insurance would most likely cover any losses depending on the travel insurer’s policy. It is important to confirm with the travel insurance provider that Covid-19 related issues are covered and to what extent.
All COVID-19 entry requirements at time of travel are to be adhered to and will be communicated prior to start of retreat.

- 1 Night of accommodation at the Fairview Hotel Nairobi in a single room. Fairview Shuttle Service will pick you up depending on your arrival time. Please arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on the 24th of June 2023.
- 5 Night accommodation on Sandai Farm, either in a single or double occupancy room (depending on your choice).
- Seven scrumptious breakfasts, five delicious lunches/picnic lunches, and five home-cooked mouth-watering dinners.
- Your own refillable water bottle that you can take home as a gift; filtered water is available throughout the retreat. If you prefer bottled water, we will organise this for you at your own expense.
- All transfers from/to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and on safaris.
- All park entry fees for national parks and reserves while on retreat.
- All scheduled adventures as indicated below:
- Full-day safari at Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
- Full-day safari in Aberdare National Park.
- Half-day safari to Solio Conservancy, including a visit to the Aberdare Country Club (expenses for afternoon tea at own costs).
- Visit to Sandai’s community projects: kid’s home and the beautiful women’s weaving project, including a donation on your behalf to support the most vulnerable.
- AMREF Flying Doctors Insurance in case of an emergency evacuation. You’ll still need to take out personal, medical or trip cancellation insurance.
- Gratuities for Sandai staff and guides on all safari activities as part of the retreat.
- The retreat is covered by a guarantee protecting your money for peace of mind.
- And other little surprises that I won’t tell you about right now. 😉
What's not included...
- Your round-trip airfare from home.
- Meals and drinks on your day of arrival in Nairobi, at Aberdare Country Club or lunch/dinner on your last day in Nairobi.
- Any alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks, including during meal times on Sandai Farm (other than filtered water). They must be paid for separately.
- Personal expenses, such as phone calls, laundry services, souvenirs and any additional gratuities for driver-guide and staff, if you wish to tip extra.
- Personal, medical or trip cancellation insurance. You must provide your insurance details before the trip. If you fail to do so, you’ll be unable to participate in this retreat.
